Hi there,
Welcome to new, exciting release of the QUEST v8-series ;-)
A lot of things are changed since the v7-series (7.01, 7.50 etc).
One of the most wanted questions i've got were, if I couldn't create
a setup-program for configuring QUEST. This is done, and not a
quick, dirty program but a full featured full-screen configuration/setup-
program, with complete mouse support.
The data isn't kept in ASCII (CTL) files anymore but in a structured
data-file.
Also a often asked question was if the hardcoded text QUEST would
post couldn't be changed to user definable text-files. Done!
All the Macro-Files now have a limit of 255 lines, and you can use
several macros in the files, see QUEST.DOC for more explanation.
Also i updated the DOC somewhat, not everybody was satisfied with the
documentation of the early years, but hey, they still aren't satisfied
with this doc, so don't expect too much of that ;-)
QScan's parameters are changed from now, and it will now process all
defined areas in one run.
Also QUEST now finally supports the JAM-base.
The (TurboPascal) structure of the config-,cookie and answers file is
availabe on request.
To upgrade your current QUEST configuration to the new QUEST (v8.xx), you
will need to run QUPDATE.EXE please note that this version only upgrades
the QUEST.BBS-file, and doesn't process your QUEST.CTL, but PLEASE remember:
**** BACKUP YOUR QUEST.BBS FIRST!!!! ****
** Please do not forget to run QUPDATE.EXE, because QUEST will erase your
** current version when started.
Please note that the ProBoard-Support is in a gamma-stage, so not everything
will go correctly.
You can run the program CTL2CFG ..!!
Please report any bugs to me,
Greetings,
Maarten Bekers
